I Thought I was Focused

I Thought I Was Focused but I wasn’t

I was in my quiet time and I couldn’t believe it. My mind was straying all over the place. I seemed to lack the ability to concentrate for more than two minutes without my mind straying. How to Manage Your Goals

I was buried in a huge writing project.

I put everything else in my life on hold. All my other goals went off the rails. I was sleeping too little, eating the wrong things, never exercising and spending very little time with my family. When I wasn’t working on my project, I was lost in thought still thinking about it. –Not a healthy way to live….
Now, there are too many important things I have to work at to let this happen again. Here’s what I am learning to do.

4 Strategies for Managing Expectations

“What do these people want from me!?”

I complained to God.

Parents wanted me to fix their kids. The students wanted the “funnest youth ministry in the city.” My pastor wanted me at the church from early morning prayer at 6 Am to 4 pm in the afternoon (7 am on Saturdays) I had assignments to complete for the seminary, and I was losing touch with my family. I found myself saying too frequently, “I hate my life.”

I looked at a bunch of books on burnout and life management. Finally, I discovered this remarkable strategy for dealing with expectations. I hope that you, or someone you know, will find it helpful too!
