What does your heart tell you?
Just in time for Valentine’s Day and the release of Fifty Shades of Grey, CPYU is launching a new website to help parents and teens make sense of the confusing sexual messages we are bombarded with every day.
Here are some of the highlights, insights on Fifty Shades and a link to the new site.
A Gold Mine
This site is a gold mine of free resources, links, and opportunities to engage with the Center for Parent and Youth Understanding. So often, parents, pastors, and educators are stumped when it comes to talking to teens about sex. This website has everything you would ever need.
One of the big mistakes with this and other things is to jump right to the rules without a proper understanding. This site helps us to think carefully and biblically about sex.
I was excited to see that they are taking this on the road. Often when you want to have a parents meeting only a few of the most concerned and involved show up. I know that Walt already goes to churches and schools to talk about these issues –what a great opportunity to have him come to your area. Walt just taught for a week at our college and his teaching was deep and rich. I am sure he would do a phenomenal job with your group of students or parents!
Something I find really helpful is receiving a quick blog that I can scan in a minute and read in under 5. Walt has a steady flow of the best content available that will lead you to as much excellent content as you can handle. It would be wise to subscribe now and get them in your inbox. They will get you thinking.
For Example Fifty Shades
I know that there has been a steady stream of posts about this but the best by far that I have seen is Walt’s take on this. Here’s just one quote
The reality is that there’s not one of us who doesn’t have to deal with our own sexual brokenness and the temptations that come with that. There’s not one of us who hasn’t stepped out of the will of God and into sexual sin in thought, word, and deed. But to knowingly invite, entertain, and indulge sexual temptation while making a clear decision to step into sexual sin. . . well. . . that’s where we need to be stepping up and calling each other out with a good dose of Biblical accountability.
Tour and Link to their Site
I know that a number of people use our blog and put links to us on their site. This week I suggest that you post the link to http://sexualintegrityinitiative.com/
Also, it would be a great idea to pop over there now and see the free handout for parents. When you are done please leave a comment and let us know what you think and share the site with your friends.
